TED—Why We Are Happy

Doctor发现——Happiness can be synthesized 。

(The great source of both the misery and disorders of human life seems to arise from overrating the difference between one permanent situation and another. Some of these situations may,no doubt ,deserve to be preferred to others, but none of them can deserve to be pursued with that passionate ardor which drives us to violate the rules either of prudence or of justice , or to corrupt the future tranquility of our minds)。

In this TED talk, Eric X. Li tells us a tale about two political systems. As we all known, most people in the West take it for granted that as a society progresses, it eventually becomes a capitalist, multi-party democracy. Is it a fallacy or just a truth? As an investor and political scientist, Eric X. Li begs to differ. In this provocative, boundary-pushing talk, he asks his audience to consider that there's more than one way to run a successful modern nation.

Eric X. Li was born in Shanghai when the Cultural Revolution occurred. Eric X. Li believed that all human societies develop in linear progression, from primitive society to communism because of the special social environment. And the sociality will become an ideal society—utopian society. However, everything becomes different; the faith he believed for decades begins to vanish. In America, he heard an opposite theory which tells him all individuals are rational, and they all want one thing: the vote. In the same time, the theory think electoral democracy will be the only political system for all countries and all peoples, with a free market to make them all rich.

Then he makes a comparison between China and other countries where use electoral democracy to govern their sociality in the past decades. From this comparison, Eric X. Li tells us one-party state run by the Chinese Communist Party can also be developed further, even more success than other countries. The most important core factors are adaptability, meritocracy, and legitimacy.

Next, Eric X. Li testified that China is capable of self-correction by enumerated a lot of reform events, such as radical land collectivization, the Great Leap Forward, Deng Xiaoping's market reform and so on. It has been proved that the communist party of China has the ability to keep pace with the times and self-correcting. To proving the comments that China’s political reforms have lagged far behind economic reforms was wrong, he made a comprehensive analysis of the political situation.

Eric X. Li introduces a powerful political institution to others. The institution, the Party's Organization Department, is little-known to Westerners. The Party's Organization Department operates a rotating pyramid made up of three components: civil service, state-owned enterprises, and social organizations like a university or a community program. He analyses civil servant system and promotion system in China.

A survey issued by Pew indicated that most people in China are satisfied with the direction of the country and the majority of people think they're better off than five years ago. While most electoral democracies around the world are suffering from dismal performance, even poverty and civil strife.

However, with the rapid development, China faces enormous challenges including social and economic problems such as pollution, food safety, and population issues. On the political front, the worst problem is corruption. While China has been improved quickly in corruption, so corruption is not the result of the one-party system.

Lastly, as a venture capitalist, Eric X. Li predicts the future of China in many different aspects including economy and politics. He thinks China's political model will never supplant electoral democracy, because unlike the latter, it doesn't pretend to be universal. All countries can find suitable for their own political system, and a more interesting age is upon us.

Beginners

The movie talks about a love story of a man whose father decided to come out after his old wife dead. The protagonist was a little bit autistic because of his home environment. After he met a beautiful girl at a masquerade party and fall in love with her, his life became different and colorful. But it’s not easy to maintain this relationship due to both of them grew up in a disharmony family. At last, they learned how to love each other and solve the problems. I do believe that we all are beginners, there are many things that we aren’t good at, and we should face and try to deal with it, not just escape.

她 Her

It’s a science fiction. The main character in the film is a man. And he writes letters for living, it’s a boring job as well as his life. As the story went on, the protagonist got an AI system that can talk as a real human by chance. Not long ago, he just broken with his girlfriend, but soon he found that AI is easier to get along with than real people. Surprisingly, he and “her” both feel like falling in love with each other, it makes him feel very happy. But good times don’t last long, they would quarrel, and it’s not easy to have an AI “girlfriend”. In the end, all of AI left people, in myopinion it’s because they love people. And they don’t want to hurt people. This is my favorite movie this year.

The Hitchhikes Guide to the Galaxy This movie is a classic science fiction comedy, adapted from a popular book with the same title written by Douglas Adams. In a peaceful morning, the protagonist was having breakfast, and at the moment, the construction team was going to force demolition of his home. Of course he was very angry, but his best friend who looks “nerves” came out suddenly and admitted he is an alien, then took him to a big space ship. After that, the aliens who own the space ship destroyed the earth. Thanks to his alien friend, as the last human being, he started aninterstellar journey full of excitement and fun.

Diana Dyad:Never, Ever Give Up

In the pitch-black night, stung by jellyfish, choking on salt water, singing to herself, hallucinating, Diana Nyad just kept on swimming. And that's how she finally achieved her lifetime goal as an athlete, an extreme 100-mile swim from Cuba to Florida, at age 64. Hear her story.

It's the fifth time Diana Nyad stand on the Cuban shore believing again that she’s going to make it all the way across that vast, dangerous wilderness of an ocean.

Life is about the journey, but not really the destination. We've been on a journey. Let's face it, we're all on a one-way street. What are we going to do as we go forward to have no regrets looking back? Teddy Roosevelt quote was floating around in her brain over the past years in training. It says, "You go ahead and sit back in your comfortable chair as a critic or an observer, while the brave one gets in the ring, engages, gets bloody and dirty, and fails over and over and over again. Yet he isn't afraid or timid and lives life in a bold way." When you achieve your dreams, it's not so much what you get as who you have

become in achieving them.

You have a dream and obstacles in front of you as we all do. None of us ever get through this life without heartache, without turmoil. Believe in perseverance and have faith. Get back up again when you can get knocked down and you will find your way.

"I have three messages," said the breathless Nyad. “The first is we should never ever give up. The second is you are never too old to chase your dreams. And the third is that it looks like the most solitary endeavor in the world but it takes a team.”

Hellen Keller said, “Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.” People always fail because they stop trying, not because they encounter the unbeatable difficulties. "Never, never give up" means to keep trying and never stop working for your goals. I think it’s a very good piece of advice for all of us and this is the most important thing that can help us to achieve our goals.

I am quite sure that everybody knows Thomas Edison. Why so many people tried to invent the electric lamp, but only Thomas Edison

succeed? If Edison, like many others, had been stilted by repeated failures, there would be no vibrant modern cities at night. His success proves that if a person is not scared by seemingly insurmountable adversity, he can find the way to success.

In my opinion, never stop working for your goal doesn’t mean you must be successful. It doesn't even mean that you must achieve your goal, but it's very important to keep it in your mind. There are enough unfavorable conditions which make our lives difficult, but what important for us is to make efforts towards your goal or your dream. If you have given your best for your goal or your dream, whether you succeed or not, at least you won't leave any regret in your life.

Don't give up working for your goal or your dream. If you succeed, you will taste great joy in your life. If you don't succeed, you won't have regret in your life because you have given your best.

Dreams are hard to follow, hold on and there will be tomorrow. You will find the way with the strength to carry on. Don’t give up.

Your body language shapes who you are 肢体语言塑造人格

Your body language shapes who you are

Your body language shapes who you are. We always make sweeping judgments and inferences from body language. And those judgments can predict really meaningful life outcomes like who we hire or promote, who we ask out on a date. Amy Cuddy, the lecturer, tells us a lot about functions of body language bring to us.

It is true across the animal kingdom that when animals make themselves big, they stretch out, take up space, they are basically opening up and expanding. It's not just limited to primates, and humans do the same thing. Amy Cuddy explains this phenomenon physiologically by cortisol, which is the stress hormone. When we feel powerless, we do exactly the opposite. We close up, wrap ourselves up, and make ourselves small. all we have done because of testosterone, which is the dominance hormone.

She also stresses that power posing for a few minutes really change your life in meaningful ways. Presenting a example of her childhood experience, she tells us that your body shapes who you are. What you think doesn't mean what you behave, but someone else's opinion of you precisely depends on your performance rather than what you have in mind. That is what the lecture talks about.

My favorite TV series is <lie to me>. Although the stories are about crimes, the main idea which the show expresses to us is that your body

language may betray your soul. Once one's words are not matched by deeds, his body language tell the truth instead. I know about body language only stay at this level:your body language reflects who you are. Through Amy Cuddy's speech, I understand much deeper:your body language not only reflects who you are, but also shapes who you are. Since we have found the body language can accurately reflect our inner emotion condition, we can also make the body language a positive means, which motivates our psychological status to be better. People feel tense when Cortisol level is high, so they may curl up body or dodge themselves as physical reaction. On the contrast, if we pretend to be relax and confident, making body language roused(转自:wWw.zUOwenzHoukan.com 作文 周刊:ted观后感英文), opening shoulders, and smiling with ease, then our testosterone level will rise while cortisol will be inhibited. To some extent, once we faked to be relax and confident, one day it will become real. As Amy said, ‘Fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become it.’

I cannot agree more about her idea, because I had the same experience before. After graduated from primary school, my character totally changed, which due to a person. She is the one I admired most in primary school because she can be very confident in any occasion. Everyday she raised her head proudly, talked with others in humorous way and acted neither humble nor pushy just like a queen. However, i usually curled up in my seat, looked down as answering questions, dared

not contact with the one's eyes. It is cortisol that plays the main role, which leads us to be powerless. When I came to middle school, I started to change. I pretended to be another her though I know I am an impostor, I still tried to appear confident and brave. I faked it till I made it, and finally one day I really became it. Learning to tweak this a little bit, it could significantly change the way your life unfolds.

So I want to say, rising your head proudly, opening your shoulder with confidence, holding your hands up to top, answering questions as loudly as you can. You are what you do. You are what you say. You are what your body language expresses, because your body language shapes who you are.
